Florida let the Great Danes hang around, but Casey Prather and Patric Young made sure the tournament's No. 1 overall seed advanced.
Florida wore down Albany in the Round of 64 of the NCAA Tournament, escaping with a 67-55 win Thursday. The Great Danes gave the Gators their best shot, but the tournament's top seed will live to see another day.
Patric Young was the driving force for Florida, notching a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds:
Casey Prather took on his typical share of the scoring, tallying 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. He even tag-teamed a dunk with Young:
For Albany, DJ Evans had a game-high 21 points. The Danes competed on both ends of the floor, but just couldn't get over the hump. A 4-of-13 shooting effort from behind the arc didn't help, as three-point shooting is typically the catalyst for a huge upset.
The Gators are the first No. 1 seed to advance, with Arizona, Virginia and Wichita State playing Friday. Florida moves on to face Pittsburgh, who whipped Colorado on Thursday.
