Sign UpBOSTON (CBS) – Funeral plans for the two Boston firefighters killed in the line of duty this week will be likely announced Friday, officials said.
Lt. Edward Walsh, 43, and firefighter Michael Kennedy, 33, both died in the fire at a Beacon Street brownstone Wednesday.
The Boston Fire Department tweeted Friday morning that funeral arrangements were being finalized with the families and that there will be “separate services on back to back days mid-week.”
The city will recognize the sacrifices of the fallen firefighters by raising the flag of the Boston Fire Department at City Hall plaza in a ceremony at 1:15 p.m. Friday.
There’s no official word yet on a cause of the fire.

Steve MacDonald, a Boston Fire Department spokesman, said there was an “extraordinary event” in the basement. WBZ-TV has learned the fire may have started at a heating unit on that level.
Boston’s building inspector, David Johnson, visited the scene Friday. He believes the brownstone can be saved.
“We’re going to plan on doing some shoring and button up the roof,” Johnson told WBZ-TV.
