Michelle Wie partied like any 24-year old should after winning a U.S. Open.
Wie captured her first major championship, the U.S. Women’s Open, on Sunday, edging out World No. 1 Stacy Lewis by two strokes.
The win was a long time coming for Wie, who turned professional at 16, so the celebration was undoubtedly a release for the scrutinized onetime phenom.
Wie's party had everything you’d expect and something a little unexpected — twerking from the Stanford grad.
Pictures of the hotel bash made it onto Wie’s Instagram page but quite a few were removed — including one of Wie and a pal flipping the middle finger and another of someone drinking out of the silver trophy. One of the pics that’s still up shows Wie with her face in the jug with the caption “So.....this happened last night..... #tabletopping #stillcantbelieveit.”
Not terrible stuff, but maybe a little too wild for the country club crowd at Pinehurst No. 2.
