Happy Movember. Here's where to celebrate in DC - Washington Post (blog)

Shave the date: It's Movember, the monthlong charity event that helps raise money and awareness for both prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.  All you have to do is pledge not to shave your mustache for the 30 days of November.

Fun fact: Tomorrow is the 2013 World Beard and Moustache Championships in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany. This is Andy Longtine of Plover, Wis., who is competing tomorrow. (AP Photo/The Stevens Point Journal, Casey Lake)

Start out today with a clean shave at the Wise Owl Club in Adams Morgan. The barbershop is having a 'Go Mo!' special — half-priced shaves until 6 p.m.— for anyone registered to take part in Movember. The barbershop has a Movember team to raise funds, so if you're not interested in growing a 'stache yourself, donate here.

Del Frisco's Grille is raising money all month, but their kickoff party is from 3 to 7 p.m. tonight with extra deals. Proceeds from the restaurant's Movember menu will go to the Movember Foundation, and anyone with a mustache gets a free appetizers on Mustache Mondays. You can also head to Rosslyn's Continental pool hall tonight for a Movember kickoff happy hour.

On Nov. 23, join the DC Mo Bros for their second-annual H Street Movemberfest, with drink and food specials from H Street Coffee House, H Street Country Club, Shawafel, H  &Pizza, the Big Board and more. All proceeds are going to charity, and there are raffle prizes, too.
