Google April Fools' Jokes 2014: A Complete Rundown - TechnoBuffalo

Either its April Fools’ Day, or Google really had a ton of new products and services to announce today.

Google is known for taking April 1 fairly, well, seriously, with some of the most elaborate April Fools’ jokes on the Web. Here’s a run down of what the company had in store for its users this year.

Viral Video Trends for 2014

YouTube is giving us a sneak peek of what the viral videos for 2014 will be. Additionally, for the first time ever, the company is throwing viral video creation open to anyone who wants to try their hand at it!

Cat Keyboard for Chrome

If you have a cat you know how they love to walk on your computer keyboard. Why not install one that they can use to type out their most important thoughts? Introducing QWERTY Cats for Chrome.

Chrome for Android and iOS: Emojify the Web

Do you find reading too difficult? No one has time for all those words! Well, Google wants to help translate all words into emoji. You’re welcome, Internet.

Gmail Shelfie

Gmail Shelfie – short for the SHareable sELFIE – is a new way to set your favorite selfie to your background in Gmail, and share it with the world as well. Anyone want a selfie of me as their Gmail background? Anyone? Anyone?

Google Play Signature Edition

Why download apps when you can have them sent to you on a USB drive in a luxurious box?

Google Gas

Running low on gas? Plug Google’s USB powered gas nozzle into your smartphone and say, “Okay, Gas, fill it with regular.” The power of Google Gas is now at your fingertips.

Google Maps: Pokémon Challenge

We covered this one yesterday, and seeing as I personally hit all 150 Pokémon last night, I’m beginning to think Google doesn’t really give you the title of Pokémon Master. I want my business card, dangit!

Nest + Virgin

When Google purchased Nest, everyone wondered what the search giant would do with it. Well, now we know, and I personally can’t wait for individual climate control at my airline seat.

Chromecast: A New Era of Squirrel Entertainment

With Chromecast, a new era of squirrel entertainment is upon us. No longer will squirrels be restricted to watching human music and videos on TV.

Auto-Awesome Photobombs

Google is really proud of its Auto-Awesome feature for images in Google+, but what if the company made it… Hassomer? With the new Photobombs feature you can add Baywatch star David Hasselhoff to any picture.

Coffee to the Home

Google Fiber is preparing to launch Coffee to the Home. This one… isn’t funny. Don’t ever joke about coffee. I want this in my home now.

Auto-Awesome for Resumes

If you thought Auto-Awesome was a great tool for photos, what about for your resume? “Much C++”!

The Magic Hand (Google Japan)

Using your hand to type on a smartphone or tablet is just so tiring. Thank goodness Google Japan has come up with Magic Hand. Now, with the simple help of a joystick or keyboard, you can just sit back and have the robot arm do it all for you. And if you’re away from home? Magic Hand Tie is the perfect accessory.

Google AdBirds

Check our Google Adbirds, a new ad format that takes your campaign to new heights by placing ads on real birds. Select your bird and write your ad. Then you’re ready for it to fly!

Not only is Google bringing back the carrier pigeon, but it’s also introducing owls so now we can all feel like we’re getting letters from Hogwarts!

WazeDates

Waze is attempting to make mapping that much easier by letting you know where the worst traffic is, but what if it also could help navigate you to love? (side note: I kind of hate myself for even writing that… please feel free to hate on me as well.) WazeDates will help you find romance on the road by letting you know when other single users of the service are near you.

Data-Less Decision Making

Who needs hard facts when you can just wear a blindfold and throw darts?

AdSense for Planets and Moons

It’s important to know where your income is coming from in Google AdSense, and thanks to a new update you can now also keep track of the all important clicks coming from other planers and moons. Introducing AdSense for Planets and Moons.

Take a look back at the past as well with a list of Google April Fools’ Jokes of 2012 and Google April Fools’ Jokes of 2013.
