'The Walking Dead': Chad Coleman talks about the 'jaw-dropping' midseason ... - Entertainment Weekly

Even before this season of The Walking Dead started, Andrew Lincoln was warning us about the midseason finale on Sunday, Dec. 1 — saying that it was the doozy to end all doozies. Well, that day is finally here, and Chad Coleman (who plays Tyreese) called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) to concur with his castmate, warning viewers to “fasten their seat belts” for an episode he promises is “gut-wrenching, epic, jaw-dropping, all of the above.” Now you can hear our entire conversation with the man who plays Tyreese by clicking on the video player below.

Among the other topics Coleman touches on is Tyreese’s big scene a few weeks back against the zombie herd. “I know everybody was waiting for Tyreese to break out and that was Tyreese in full bloom,” says Coleman. “It was a big adrenaline rush, man. It was crazy and I was exhausted afterward.” He also discusses whether Tyreese’s heart is at times too big: “I think that’s what it is, finding that balance between what the rules of engagement are in a post-apocalyptic world. Can you really afford to have a heart that big? And he’s finding out. He’s learning. You’ve got to know the landscape. You got to play by certain rules. It’s all part of a maturation process for Tyreese, to make him a better man and a better leader. I appreciate his nobility, but there are just things that everybody has to learn hard and fast and I think he’s in the middle of his learning curve right now.”

Listen in to also find out what Coleman has to say about Tyreese finding out about Carol killing his girlfriend, the reaction from fans who still love him for his work on The Wire as Cutty, and how he used to do monologues for sergeants while serving in the U.S. Army. It’s your perfect Walking Dead midseason finale pre- or post-game as we break it all down with Chad Coleman. Just click on the video player below!
