Just in time for Mother’s Day, a mom in Akron, Ohio gave birth on May 10 to a set of mono mono twins that were born holding hands! Best present ever?
A mom in Akron, Ohio is going to have the best Mother’s Day ever! On May 10, Sarah Thistlethwaite gave birth to mono mono twins (we’ll explain what that means below) by Caesarean section that were born holding hands! Pretty sure that means that they’ll never be fighting over their toys. More on this incredible story below!
Monoamniotic Twins Born Holding Hands In Akron, Ohio
Monoamniotic twins — or mono mono twins, or even “MoMo” twins — are incredibly rare. This birth anamoly — which occurs in 1 in every 10,000 births — occurs when identical twins share the same amniotic sac in their mother’s uterus.
The twins also share a placenta, but have separate umbilical cords — which can, tragically, lead to strangulation in the womb. Therefore, close monitoring of mono mono twins is essential.
That said, the Thistlethwaite twins, born to Sarah and her husband Bill, were born not only safe and healthy, but holding hands! They join their older brother, Jaxon, 15 months.

It was only in Sarah’s 19th week that the couple’s doctors discovered that she was carrying twins, according to News Net 5 in Ohio.
Sarah & Bill Thistlethwaite Give Birth To Mono Mono Twins
“We were so excited that we were having twins and so that was great, and then you have the flip side of it that I knew I would have to be in the hospital for eight or nine weeks,” Sarah told News Net 5.
“We’re trying to keep [Jaxon's] life as normal as possible so he comes up and visits for a couple of hours,” Sarah said. “It’s hard to be here, be we know in the end, we’re going to end up with two twin girls and they’re going to be healthy and everything is great,” Sarah said.
Sarah gave birth on her 58th day in the hospital, on May 10, giving birth to her twin girls at 2:41 p.m.
